Car Control is a driver training company that offers a wide range of driving courses aimed at making you and members of your family better, safer drivers. We specialise in skid car training and offer a range of skid control courses. We have been established for over twenty years and are dedicated to providing high quality and value for money driver training to members of the public.
All our skid courses are available as gift vouchers and make unusual driving gifts for birthdays, Christmas, Father's or Mother's Day.
Losing control of a vehicle on wet or icy roads is a frightening experience; even experienced company vehicle drivers can react incorrectly and risk collision. High speed collisions can result in fatalities and serious injury and the costs to a company range from increased insurance premiums, third party claims, loss of productivity and negative public image. Even a slow speed skid on an icy company car park creates costs and inconvenience. However, in just two hours the Skid Avoidance course can teach the skills necessary to control a vehicle in low grip conditions. The good news is that it is enjoyable to learn these potentially life-saving skills.
NCCC trains emergency response drivers, company car drivers and young drivers - all agree it is valuable and cost effective training.
The Skid Avoidance course teaches skid recognition, avoidance skills and demonstrates how to utilise ABS safety sytems. Comprising a mix of theory, instructor demonstration and hands on driving, the driver is able to push the car up to and beyond the limit of adhesion in a safe environment. Once the steering and braking techniques are understood and practiced the driver will be able to react instinctively to any loss of control situation. Once the new skills are mastered the drivers can have some fun working against the clock in a timed slalom.
The Swedish Skid Control Car System Rather than driving on an oil and water skid pan, NCCC uses cars which sit in fully adjustable electronic hydraulic cradles. The instructor is able to simulate all types of skid scenarios - front wheel, rear wheel and four wheel. Why Swedish? In Sweden skid control driving is a compulsory part of the driving test, so they have designed this system.
The Skid Avoidance course is a 2 hour course comprising:
Theory briefing
Instructor skid demonstration
Hands on skid practice
Instructor braking technique demonstration of ABS and non-ABS
Hands on braking technique practice.
Timed Slalom Event - the fun part - this is a chance to enjoy putting new skills into practice against the stop watch. The object of the slalom is to encourage drivers into a loss of control scenario and then to practice their skills and increase confidence in a safe and controlled environment
Everyone successfully completing is awarded a certificate
